Order Mishloach Manot

Every year Purim gets us excited for fun, games, and mitzvot. An especially enjoyable mitzvah is the giving of mishloach manot.

Though our annual drive is currently over, you can still make your own mishloach manot to give to your friends and family.

The mitzvah of mishloach manot is seen by some as counteracting the accusations of Haman, who accused the Jews of being “a scattered, and divided nation.” Sending gifts to each other is our way of proving to the Hamans of the world that we’re not divided. The mishloach manot bring peace and harmony to a Jewish community that can at times seem divisive and fractured.

It is stated in the Megillah of Esther,  “Mordechai recorded these events and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of King Ahashverosh, the near ones and the distant ones, charging them to observe annually the 14th day of the month of Adar and its 15th day as the days on which the Jews gained relief from their enemies and the month which had been turned about for them from one of sorrow to gladness and from mourning to festival; to observe them as days of feasting and gladness and sending delicacies to one another and gifts to the poor.”
