MAGAL Hebrew School

There are two guiding principles that drive us: a dedication to lifelong learning and a determination to put our Judaism into practice in our daily lives. This commitment is reflected in our Hebrew school and youth educational programs through and through.

Temple Israel members can also print out the forms linked below and mail or bring them in to our administrative office. Temple Israel and Temple Shir Shalom have joined forces to create a collaborative religious school for our children.  The newly formed community school is called the Meitin Alliance for Growth And Learning, a Collaborative Religious School by Temple Israel and Temple Shir Shalom.  The school is known as MAGAL, the Hebrew word for circle and a symbol of oneness, serving Winter Springs, FL and Central Florida Jewish families. Although each congregation has its unique character, we are one in our commitment to provide a strong Jewish education and identity to our children. Classes are held at Temple Israel and will continue at the same times as before, Wednesdays from 5:00pm-6:30pm for 3rd-7th grade and Sundays from 9:00am-12:30pm for Pre-K – 7th grade. We are so happy that our children will have twice as many Jewish students with whom to connect.

The core elements and skills of our faith come naturally to our Hebrew school students thanks to our integrated curriculum, that emphasizes mastery and understanding over rote. These elements give our kids ownership of their identity and help them feel comfortable discussing the world around them with a Jewish outlook. It also means they learn how to transmit all that is wonderful in our heritage to the world beyond the doors of the synagogue, whether it be part of a school project or as individuals. Hebrew school learning is reinforced and supplemented by our regular Friday night and Saturday morning family services and junior congregation. Students regularly take part in services so they’ll feel at home in any synagogue in the world. Even our littlest ones can make early memories of the beauty of Shabbat in our monthly Tot Shabbat program. Our monthly Youth programs reinforce their Jewish identities and provide a much needed source of friendship among people who share a common vision for the world. We also have many opportunities for family learning and participation in events. It is important that our young people see their family and other adults engaged in the great conversation of our faith that has continued for over 3000 years. Please contact us to learn more about what makes our Hebrew school in Winter Springs, FL so special.
