It is customary on the first day of Rosh HaShanah to go to a running body of water in the afternoon. There, a short ceremony is observed which symbolizes the casting away of our sins into the depths of the ocean. The ceremony concludes with throwing bread into the water, which has the added benefit of feeding the critters living there and starting off the new year with the mitzvah of showing kindness to God’s creations.

Please join us for a Tashlich Service on Thursday, September 25. We will meet at the entrance of the synagogue and walk to the river together. Please be sure to come with an ample supply of bread.

The Tashlich service is open to the entire community.
