Lecturer: Murray Toborowsky

Refreshments: 4:00-4:30 pm
Lecture: 4:30-6:00 pm

Murray Toborowsky is an experienced history teacher whose passion is researching and lecturing on the impact of Jews on American History. He has taught a four-part course on the subject at Temple Israel, CRJ and at his home synagogue in Louisville, KY and has recently lectured on “Jews in American History” at Rollins College.

Mr. Toborowsky returns to Temple Israel to present the fourth and final lecture in his series; Abraham Lincoln & the Jews. He discusses the relationships among Abraham Lincoln and his Jewish friends and acquaintances and how these connections may have influenced the direction of American history.

He will address such questions as:

  1. Why were the Jews the first to offer prayers for Lincoln after his passing?
  2. Who was the Jewish doctor that was the first to attend Lincoln after he was shot?
  3. What Jewish friend met Lincoln’s body in Springfield on his arrival from Washington?
  4. How did Lincoln’s passing affect the Jewish community?
  5. Who was the famous rabbi that gave eulogy for Lincoln in Washington?

We hope you can join us for this interesting and informative presentation.
