Welcome to Temple Israel, a place where you find something spiritual every day. We are meeting at the Jewish Community Center (851 N. Maitland Ave., Maitland, FL) until our new home is ready. 

Temple Israel is a totally egalitarian conservative synagogue where tradition and change sit comfortably side by side. We are rooted in Jewish tradition but also progressive in outlook. We are family, and a strong sense of community has always characterized our congregational life. We seek to ensure that our children shall find a wellspring here from which they may draw inspiration in their lifetime and transmit that spirituality to the generations that will come after them.

Spirituality reaches out and hugs you as you walk through our doors. Educationally, Temple Israel is a center for lifelong Jewish learning offering a wide variety of opportunities to meet the diverse needs of the congregation. We believe in teaching and living tikkun olam, and we are an active force in community service initiatives. We believe in touching the life of every congregant, and all congregants, from infants to the elderly, are an integral component of our synagogue life.

Our Rabbi, Gary G. Perras, ensures that everyone has the opportunity to find spirituality in his/her life.  He is always available in person or by phone to assist & to counsel members of the congregation.  Orna Jaffe adds a special dimension as head of our religious school.  Her versatility as an educator, love and warmth for our children, and enthusiasm for Jewish life strengthens and diversifies our school and youth programs. Executive Director accomplishes the objectives and goals of the congregation by overseeing total facility operations.
